ERM is at a unique position to support our clients to drive performance improvement on accident and incident prevention, enhanced regulatory compliance and reducing impacts on people and the environment arising from stable operations as well as the processes, leadership and behavioural dynamics that underpin the achievement of these ends. Based in either Brussels orAntwerp, the Senior Product Sustainability Consultant will support the successful delivery of performance improvement projects, contributing to the growth of Performance and Assurance practice.As a senior member of the team, the Senior Product Sustainability Consultant will contribute to achieving the business objectives by managing or coordinating small or medium size projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects, supervising project teams and coaching and mentoring more junior staff. He/she will establish strong working relationships with clients through project delivery and deliver multiple project tasks or components, including proposal sections. It is essential that he/she understands the interrelationships between ERM practices and policies and how these are applied within the business model (s).

ERM operates a collaborative environment and this person will have opportunity to continuously broaden his/her exposure through working with other practice areas and/or on international projects. We also offer valuable training to develop our team’s core consulting skills including stakeholder management and business development.

Role responsibilities

Domain expertise and project delivery

  • Provide complex and technical or subject matter expertise and methodology challenges within the area of sustainability (GRI, stakeholder management & communication, energy efficiency, water stewardship, develop sustainability strategy and CSR reporting)
  • Share expertise and knowledge within the Business Unit and or global practice area
  • Understand client’s desired outcomes and work collaboratively to ensure deliverables meet quality standards
  • Define actions and identify and utilise resources to achieve project tasks or objectives
  • Measure and evaluate work of those supervising and or project team(s); ensure goals are aligned to desired project results
  • Supervise project team members at all levels to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget and promote their development in all aspect of role
  • Recognise project critical actions and identify underlying issues/risks prior to reaching “problem” stage
  • Manage small projects or whole tasks within larger projects accurately, on time and to budget including elements such as: scope and delivery requirements, KPIs, budgeting, resourcing planning, coordinating field and other technical work, accurate administration and record keeping, and managing health and safety aspects
  • Use ERM financial management tools and metrics to ensure project elements are being continually monitored and issues reported
  • Coordinate the appropriate business administration aspects of the ERM business model including but not limited to: the accurate completion of timesheets and reports; compilation, filing and archiving of project documentation; and updating of relevant internal systems (e.g. COD GMS Minerva)
  • Contribute to projects, as assigned, undertaking research, analysis, report drafting, and supervising in accordance with the project goals
  • Follow prevailing authorization processes, policies and practices for all aspects role and ensure that all projects have an active HASP and that the correct review procedures are followed (e.g. Health and Safety, expenses, expenditure, travel, etc.)

Building professional relationship

  • Work in collaboration with other consultants and project managers to deliver project/tasks accurately, on time and within budget
  • Collaborate across regions and global practice
  • Negotiate effectively within the team and clients resulting in win-win situations
  • Supporting team members or more junior technical staff on project inputs to ensure quality of work
  • Build trusting and collaborative working relationship with clients and internal contacts
  • Communicate to project team(s) how practice area goals, processes and requirements are integrated in the business unit, regional and global practice vision, values, processes and procedure

Participation in business development

  • Understand and articulate the needs and expectations of projects and proposals from a client point of view, including legislative and or regulatory aspects
  • Communicate effectively with clients counter parts to ensure, supervised where required, accurate project/ proposal preparation, delivery, and follow up
  • Draft report and or proposal sections related to area managing and or area of specialist knowledge
  • Remain up to date with the external market and client industry trends
  • Communicate how ERMs products and services benefit clients and learn how to identify potential repeat and or new business from existing or new clients

Skill/experience requirements

  • Experience in GRI, stakeholder management and communication, water stewardship and developing sustainability strategy
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency initiatives and carbon footprint
  • The ability to manage projects to time and within budget
  • The ability to lead project team and coach/mentor more junior project team members
  • The Ability to work with senior management team at client side
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience in the areas of reporting, energy, safety, water or carbon footprint will be looked upon favorably
  • Organisational skills: effective personal filing, scheduling and planning systems
  • Excellent language skills in French, Dutch and English required. Excellent writing skills in English required.
  • Experience in a team leader role will be looked on favorably (Hold team meetings, resource planning, conducting performance appraisals, guide personal development and supporting the management to implement the BeNe Strategy).
